Patient Self-Scheduling Overview
If enabled, patients can self-schedule via your white-labeled self-scheduling web page. This webpage is accessible via the Patient Portal or you can provide patients the direct link to the self-scheduling page.
Accessing Self-Scheduling via Portal
As seen in the screenshot below, patients open the portal (mobile or web), go to the Appointments tab, and click the (+) icon on the bottom right. This will open the self-scheduling page.
When accessing the self-scheduling page via the Patient Portal, patients are "pre-authenticated". Meaning, they don't need to enter their name and dob. All patients need to do is click on the captcha and continue.
Accessing Self-Scheduling via Direct Links
If the patient is accessing the self-scheduling page via a link on your website or any other method in which the webpage is sent to them, the patient will need to first authenticate themselves.
As seen in the screenshot above, patients will enter their legal name and date of birth. If Akute finds a match for an active patient in your panel, the patient will be let through to schedule an appointment. If Akute does not find a match, the patient will be asked if they are a "new patient". If they answer yes, they will be prompted to enter their birth sex, phone, and email. Once completed, if the clinic allows unregistered patients to self-schedule, they can then move forward to schedule an appointment and a new chart will be created for them.
Scheduling the Appointment
Then patients can choose an appointment type, the provider for the visit, their preferred date and time based on your availability, and answer any questions that may be included in the appointment type settings.
Once a patient books the appointment, several actions will occur:
- The patient will get an email which can be customized in the appointment type settings
- The provider will get a notification email
- The appointment will show as booked on the provider's calendar
- The patient will get an SMS reminder 24 hours prior to the appointment (if appointment reminders are enabled)
