Pharmacy Select

How It Works for Providers & Patients

Pharmacy Select gives patients a short window to choose their preferred pharmacy after a prescription is sent. It improves convenience, reduces follow-up calls, and helps patients find the most affordable option without adding extra work for the care team.

For Providers

What You Do: Prescribe as usual and make sure the patient’s mobile number is correct in their chart before sending. If you want the prescription to go immediately to the default pharmacy without patient selection, check the Pharmacy Select Override box.

What Happens Next: After you send the prescription, there is a 20-minute hold before it is sent to the pharmacy. During this time, the patient receives a secure text message (between 8 AM–8 PM provider’s local time) with a link to view pharmacy and pricing options. If they choose a new pharmacy, the prescription updates automatically. If they do not respond within 20 minutes, the prescription goes to their default pharmacy.

Important Notes: Controlled substances are not eligible for Pharmacy Select and are sent to the default pharmacy immediately. Patients can opt out of pharmacy selection texts at any time. You can see the updated pharmacy in the system if the patient makes a change.

For Patients

What to Expect: You will get a text shortly after your provider sends in your prescription (between 8 AM and 8 PM provider’s local time). The text will contain a secure link to view your prescription, compare prices, and choose your preferred pharmacy. You have 20 minutes to make your selection before the prescription is sent to your default pharmacy.

If You Do Nothing: Your prescription will be sent to your default pharmacy. You may also opt-out of these texts at any time by replying, “STOP.”

If You Change the Pharmacy: The provider’s system updates automatically, and you do not need to call the office.

Questions or Issues: Text 872-267-1923 between 8 AM–8 PM ET for help with Pharmacy Select messages.
