Sending outbound faxes

There are several ways to send faxes from Akute to the recipient of your choice. The following types of content can be faxed:

• Notes
• Documents (uploaded files)
• Referrals
• Clinical Profile (chart export)

Preferred Method: Using the Referral Tool

The most flexible and preferred method for sending outbound faxes - especially if you need to send multiple documents from a patient chart - is through the Referrals workflow. While commonly used for referrals, this tool can be used for any outbound fax, even if you’re not sending a traditional referral.

The referral tool allows you to:

• Include medications and allergy lists
• Select multiple documents and notes
• Include specific problems from the problem list
• Add custom free-text notes
• Automatically attach patient demographics and insurance information
